If you want to lose weight or build muscle it is very important to know how many calories you need to maintain your weight based on your unique metabolism, so the amount of calories you need to lose or gain can be accurately determined. The metabolism test is a small hand-held device you breathe into while your nose is plugged. It takes about 10 minutes. It is not uncomfortable nor difficult to do – you just sit still and breathe. The results of the metabolism test will be explained and compared to an equation to determine how efficient your metabolism is at the time of service. Metabolism Testing can be done at your nutrition counseling appointment with your licensed dietitian nutritionist or at our Nutrition Assessment Center at our Alexandria Office Location.
If performed at our Nutrition Assessment Center this information will then be passed onto your dietitian nutritionist so she can provide you with a meal plan and/or meal plan guidance based around your calorie and macronutrient goals at your next nutrition counseling session.
