If a person is having a difficult time at work, school, with relationships or just coping in general, clinical testing can help understand the various personality traits, emotions, and behaviors possibly contributing to some of these situations. A variety of psychological tests may be administered to detect a pattern of various personality traits in the patient such as anxiety and/or depression, which will help the mental health provider and others on the patients’ mental health team better understand the conditions at hand to help direct therapy sessions and refer out to other mental health providers for specific directed counseling, nutrition, medication or other health evaluations.

The psychologist may need to administer other tests such as ADHD and learning disabilities as these can also be contributing to the behavior.
