Bukola M. Zubair, RN, BSN, PMHNP-BC

After 13 years of nursing in acute setting as med-surg nurse and community health nurse, I am beginning a new journey as a Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. My nursing philosophy is based on the belief that nursing is the culmination of science, skills, art, and compassion centered on caring for individuals, families, and communities. I believe that the care given to others is optimized when it is driven by ethical values, respect, compassion, and evidence-based outcomes.

With regards to mental health, it is by eradicating the stigma around it. I believe it is OK not to be OK but what is perfectly OK is to seek help. My practice is concerned with health, illness, and healing and providing holistic nursing care, and incorporating their support system in the journey. Involving the patient’s family in the treatment will go a long way in the patient's recovery.
