Whitney Marris is a Licensed Master Social Worker in Virginia. She is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Social Work, where she obtained her Master of Social Work degree with a focus on trauma-informed care and human rights.
Whitney has broad practice experience spanning work in community-based behavioral health settings, the criminal justice system, crisis intervention, and non-profits serving survivors of gender-based and domestic violence. She also has specialized training in a variety of individual and group approaches including the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model, Restorative Circles, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
Fueled by a commitment to a holistic, person-centered, and strengths-based approach, Whitney strives to cultivate a collaborative, supportive, and safe space to facilitate each client’s unique journey in growth and healing. Whitney employs her expertise, empathy, and compassion to help clients uncover and engage strategies to experience life with enhanced feelings of empowerment, ease, and joy.
Whitney enjoys working with people of all backgrounds and abilities, and is fluent in helping clients address an array of personal challenges including depression, anxiety, major life transitions, substance use, grief and loss, relationships, as well as trauma and chronic stress.
