Sonia Gupte is a Licensed Resident Counselor in the state of Virginia with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Her approach to treatment is holistic, empowering, non-judgmental, and strengths based. She has been working in private practice for several years and has worked with clients from ages three to sixty, as well as families, couples, and groups. Her diverse professional experience has allowed me to gain insight into several parts of an individual’s life, and how these parts interact with each other to influence one’s mental health.
Sonia’s specialties include working through/treating anxiety, depression, social challenges, family and couple related conflict, personality disorders, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, body image issues and eating disorders, parenting challenges, and low self-esteem/lack of motivation. Additionally, she loves working with clients on personal development and empowerment, career growth, mindfulness and gratitude, and accountability in healthy habits and daily tasks. She works through a CBT, existential, and narrative lens, which allows her to center each client as the author of their own story, while considering societal and cultural factors along the way. Sonia aims to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for each client so they can truly see their sessions as their safe space, and somewhere to come as they are.
