Doreen Boateng is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor(LGPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) in Maryland. Doreen received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Towson University and her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Bowie State University.
Her areas of practice include working with teen and adolescent minority populations with a variety of disorders from depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief and loss and life transition issues. She also has experience working with substance abuse clients and individuals from different countries outside of the US on a multitude of issues. Mrs Boateng is skilled in providing faith based counseling if the client is comfortable and initiates it during the session. She believes that you should use the treatment modality that best fits a client’s needs to ensure that you are providing the best care. Doreen uses the treatment modality including, but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She works from a Strengths-Based perspective to help her clients understand and improve on their own strengths and not just their deficits.
